For this unit--Director's Alive--you will research one of the prominent theatre theorists. To apply these theories, you will present your theories, lead a workshop and direct as that theorist.
The possibilities for theorists are:
- Katie Mitchell (SOFIA?)
- Constantin Stanislavski
- Jerzy Grotowski
- Bertold Brecht (CHLOE)
- Peter Brook (MARIA EUGENIA)
- Antonin Artaud (JENNY)
As we begin to explore the different theorists, the
Styletasters from DramaWorks (on Digital Theatre Plus), might provide helpful research in theory and practice. I find the practical workshops, particularly useful. These are useful booklets, and I would encourage you to download & keep for reference (next year, anyone?)
