Group Meeting -- Dissecting the Starting Points

On Friday, Sept. 28, please either meet up in person or in a Google Chat to present your Starting Point. How to hold the brainstorming sessions:

It's important that this happens LIVE, as you will bounce ideas off of one another.

  1. INTRO to Starting Point:  Person with Starting Point: Shortly explains the starting point s/he brought and why they chose it.
  2. GROUP BRAINSTORM -- Take about five minutes to bounce ideas off of the stimulus. What does this starting point bring to mind? What stories, images, concepts, phrases does this remind you of?  At this point, be sure to be OPEN to ALL ideas. It's OK to come up with another idea based on someone's response.
  3. RECORDING: The Person whose starting point is being discussed should keep a mind map of the discussion (Remember, this will go in your journal and process portfolio!)
  4. SELECTING ONE STARTING POINT: After all of the Starting Points have been discussed, decide which of the starting points is the most fruitful for you to explore in the piece. Consensus at this point is important.
Bring the starting point (and the group mind maps) to class on Monday, October 2, ready to work and discuss!

Journal Reflection:
Part 1: Formation of the Group -- How did  you decide to work together?
Who are the members of the group and what does each one bring?
Part II: Starting Point: What starting point did you choose as a group? Why?
What were YOUR initial reactions and research into the topic? What are the possibilities of choosing this starting point?
