For this assessment, students research, plan and deliver an individual presentation to their peers in which they outline and physically demonstrate a convention of an unfamiliar theatre tradition not previously studied. The convention then is applied to a playscript. A video recording of the live presentation is externally assessed. (15 minutes max).
For your MOCK presentation, you will be researching, presenting and demonstrating an actual performance convention from one of the three Japanese Theatre Traditions we examine--Kabuki, Bunraku & Noh.
THIS WEEK: After each introductory class to a Theatre Tradition, I would like for you prepare for research by doing the following. This should be added to the comments section of Vibrant Voices!
- SOURCES: Identify 3 new possible sources of information & include a evaluation of the source. What are the strengths of using this source? Areas for concern? (Check the blog that your sources haven’t already been used!)
- RESEARCH QUESTIONS: Based on your perfunctory knowledge of the theatre tradition, identify 2-3 possible topics for you to research. Pay attention that these must be performance based. You must be able to demonstrate something for the audience.
