  1. She sat behind a desk, and through a camera, the audience got this sort of 'Skype-call', or 'vlog', feeling from her. It made the whole experience more modern and relatable, and it almost felt as if she was gossiping to the audience. This is because Mitchell is also a big believer in naturalism in her acting, and Liz was extremely casual when presenting her monologue. The camera was used because Mitchell's theory also revolves around using different and many forms to communicate what's inside the mind, because the mind is chaotic.

    1. I absolutely agree that the camera and the projection added a modern feeling to the scene. In fact. I would even argue that all the digital and technological elements of Liz’s performance helped to reset the tone and the overall meaning of the monologue. That is, the modern devices turned what was a scene of an insane girl mourning the death of her father and the loss of her virginity into a casual video call that sounded more like a gossip, as pointed out by Rosie.

  2. Through Katie Mitchell's modern style, Liz used a technological design element to help emote the message of the monologue to the audience. By having this screen filming Liz live, the audience is provided with different lenses to watch the performance through. This was extremely interesting since it made me feel like I was watching a video blog of a girl trying to 'set the story straight', but I also got to see the real, raw version of the girl speaking to the camera, almost like a behind-the-scenes look. So there were lots of different perspectives to understand the monologue through and by literally having multiple screens/lenses, this idea is pushed even further. I really enjoyed it.
