  1. A key aspect of Sofia's performance was that she did not look at the audience. She never made eye contact or looked at the fourth wall. According to Stanislavski, the fourth wall was there for a reason and actors could not and would not break it in their theatre. Another noticeable thing about her performance is that she tried to put herself in a natural setting, being as realistic in her acting and surroundings as possible. For example, she would act as if she was having conversations with people and would use casual voice tones and intonations. This is an important aspect of Stanislavski because he was a big believer in realism and naturalism; all the acting had to be true and pure.

Besides deliberately deciding not to look at the audience, Sofia was also constantly redirecting her lines from left to right, which was an element that she, as an actress, decided to implement. This relates to Stanislavski’s concern with the authenticity of his actors. In fact, Stanislavski encouraged his actors to bring their own experiences into their performance in order to foster creativity and originality, which are attributes that Sofia displayed with mastery.
