  1. What I learnt:

    Naturalism:
    - The importance of the moment and the feeling it creates
    - Know what you're doing, and most importantly the motivation and why you're doing it.
    - Understand that theatre is meant to draw your audience in and transport them to another moment, so that must be done through the most realistic ways possible.

  2. Konstantin is a Russian director, playwright, and actor. He mainly used naturalism and realism in his works, incorporating his ideology of every person on stage is important and searching for accuracy and truthfulness along with the logical understanding of characters. He has highlighted the system of truthfulness and the importance of careful text analysis. I learned that having a clear purpose of my movements and actions while acting is significant to make the theatre logical and comprehensible to the audience.

  3. During this workshop I learned that Stanislavski developed a theory of naturalism that he called "The System". The system he developed helps the actor learn more about his actor, as he searches for a variety of elements from his personality and feelings. He believed there is always purpose behind all of a character's actions, and thus believed analyzing the text was essential while also bringing personal experiences to further meaning to bring truth to everything they do. Therefore, regardless of the role an actor got, he should be able to provide meaning, creating the idea that "there are no small parts, only small actors".

  4. As an actress I learned Stanislavski created Naturalism and Realism. He developed a "System" for acting which included the given circumstances, emotion memory, motivation and a super objective. (Tempo Rhythm), and a focused control and concentration. The Magic If is also important in his work.
"Remember, there are no small parts, only small actors."
